True Confession | I hate New Year’s Eve and I blame…

I hate New Year’s Eve.

Now that it is over, I feel like I can come clean. I hate New Year’s Eve and I blame When Harry Met Sally for it.

Have you seen the New Year’s Eve scene? I was young when that movie came out, and I truly believed that when I grew up, New Year’s Eve was going to be like that. You know, you and your friends dress up and go to a gala where everyone seems to know each other or at least like each other and they party in the New Year. And like clockwork when the clock strikes midnight, you get kissed and it is magical.

Valentine’s is a close second, but New Year’s is the biggest scam of all.

Even the ball drop looks like fun, but unless you are right next to Ryan Seacrest, running around the streets of Time Square isn’t fun. (Believe me, I’ve done it accidentally.)

And then there are the local establishments that try to recreate that Harry Met Sally appeal, but unless all of your circle of friends are in and willing to pay top dollar, it isn’t worth it.

My best New Year’s celebrations have been quiet and understated with family. And it isn’t that I didn’t enjoy them, I did, it’s just that I wonder what the other, the Harry/Sally would be like.

So before I die, I would love to experience the Harry Met Sally New Years. I’m just sayin’…

mmmm…. I’ve had one WHMS NYE and it was fantastic. It was at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and I doubt it will ever happen again. But that ONE time, it was awesome. The rest of them, I have parties at my house with a big fire pit and snacks and friends and a midnight toast… and those are just as good. :)

Any holiday that I can’t be with the one I wish to be with is my least favorite holiday.
