I don’t get it. I got a flat tire in October…I saw it as a blessing. And yet now I am blessed with another flat tire?
Same road – Cesar Chavez
Same direction – East
Same time of day – night
Same culprit – a nail
Same result – a blow out
There were some differences. Last time I was on the phone with my then boyfriend when the ‘ba bump’ started. This time I was enjoying a surprise conversation from a gentleman caller too far away to offer any help to my situation–like a long plane flight away. What to do what to do?
Not to worry, a flat tire can’t slow this Girl-on-the-go down.
I figured I had about 60 seconds max to make it to a safe place and seek some help. The first place I saw was the Radisson (we’re talking Congress and Cesar Chavez!) I almost pulled in, but then I remembered that The Four Seasons was less than 1/48th of a mile.
It’s like my little sister always says, don’t take the first item on the shelf, the one in the back is always better!
I rolled my three-legged car into the Four Seasons. I’m not too proud!
The men of the Four Seasons took great care of me. Zach changed my tire with the moral support of two other gentleman. With in 25 minutes from rolling into the driveway, I was good to go. I was relieved to actually have cash in my wallet (that is rare!) to give Zach.
Is this just a coincidence? What on earth?
I believe there is a take away in everything in life. And sometime if we don’t learn our lesson, we are forced to relive the situation until we do. Here’s what I’ve come up with as possible lessons. And if I get to choose which lesson to learn, (ha!) I choose #3.
- Learn how to change a tire
- Stop driving on Cesar Chavez
- Be proactive - last time if you remember, I pulled over on the side of the road and was waiting for my then guy to come help me when a knight in shining armor stopped and fixed it in a jiffy. This time rather than waiting on the road like a damsel in distress, I drove towards help.
All-in-all I am proactive, but there are some areas where I could up the proactive ante and make significant strides in my life…I’ll be working on that.
