I don’t do resolutions…I do Plans of Action. POAs if you will…

Every year I go out of the country with my family for the holidays. I don’t know if it is the perspective you get from being away from home, or the rejuvenation I get from being with those who know me best, but I always return ready to Carpe Diem!

I reflect on the good and the bad of the past year and make plans to make the next year better. Is this a new year’s resolution? Probably, although it is more a coincidence than anything else. Alas, I am ready to clean out the crud and hit reboot.

And I just may be brave enough to share my POA (plan of action) with you.

Action point #1: I will lose 20lbs before my 31st birthday.

————————————
Okay a little back story, my mom got her husband a Wii for Christmas and the Wii fit trainer. I got on it and I didn’t like what it had to say. Granted I had just returned from Spain, where for some reason I believed dessert went with every meal and sometimes was its own meal. And of course the holiday season meant more food less Jazzercise, but by jove, I was not impressed with the number.

So 20 by 3/17 (which 3+17 equals 20, how appropriate).

Here is how I plan on doing it…

Exercise every day: I teach Jazzercise three times a week, will take a Jazzercise class from another instructor once a week, and will do at least thirty minutes of something the other three days. So far…cover_self_190

  • Today I am going to do the Jillian Michaels training in this month’s Self magazine. It is a crazy circuit thing that is sure to be a doozy.

Eat less queso: This one makes me want to cry. I eat queso at least four days out of the week. AT LEAST. Good queso too – Maudie’s Diablo Sol with a scoop of guac. My goodness my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Hasta Luego queso. Now I am practical, I am not eliminating my love, just reigning it in a little.   So far…

  • I haven’t had any queso all week. (All 3 days…) I can have it at least twice a week but only if I am eating it with someone else. Not alone. I can eat it alone once a week, but just half, not the whole goodness.
  • I went to the grocery store yesterday. I haven’t shopped for groceries since at least early November. I don’t cook you see. Hence the queso goodness. But I spent $147 in groceries yesterday, and I ate a salad and a frozen mini pizza for dinner last night.

Jazzercise goalThis is my goal—to wear this top when I teach class.

What I am trying to do shouldn’t be hard as long as I make it fun. Are you in the same boat? Are you looking to shave some pounds in 2010?

Next time…Action Point #2 I will regain my gusto…

I have gotten a lot of “are you crazy” feedback. I need to clarify:
I promise I am not crazy. But according to my BMI, I am overweight. And the BMI is of course the national standard. Truth be told I have always teetered because I have my heavy bones. But I can’t be complacent either and I have gotten a little lax.

So I am indulging the BMI because after all it is the National Standard. Not to worry, if I start looking anything close to Kate Moss, I will eat more curvaceous queso…my curves were God-Given and I plan on owning and rocking them!!

I enjoy water aerobic exercise and will proceed to go when I can. Although, I’m sticking more out of working and doing the elipitcal right now. I think it calculates on the teacher and how serious you work to see benefits. Some ladies are there just to socialize and move around which is great for them. When I was going 3 days a week, I could tell my body was in better shape! So aerobis exercise is good for health.
