Groom’s Cake is for the Groom

We stumbled on a crazy phenomenon this week on Family Friendly Mornings regarding weddings.

According to Conde Nest, more than 70 percent of women say they’re most interested in checking out the bride’s dress and hearing what original vows the couple may have come up with.

On the other hand, 60 percent of guys say that food and drinks are their highest priority.

Now I am not surprised that guys don’t check out the dresses, but as we were talking, Gary mentioned that he never got to have any of his groom’s cake and he is still upset about it 20+ years later.

And then listeners called in feeling Gary’s pain. (Even Steve agreed.) They didn’t get to eat their cake and as far as I can tell, they harbor those feelings years later.

Tough love time: Grooms, the wedding is not about you…this includes the food. You typically don’t get to eat it, sorry but it is true.

Couple of solutions:
1) Cut the Groom’s cake ceremoniously and take a bite (rather than squishing it in the bride’s face). Then you get the chance to try it, although I am not sure that would satisfy their taste buds.
2) Accompany your fiance to the food tastings. This gives you an opportunity to try all the possible choices of cake, main course etc.

3) Have someone save you a piece of cake. Enough said, problem solved.

4) Brides this one is for you: Make sure your Groom gets to eat his cake. When they look back on the wedding, you don’t want them to bring up the fact that they didn’t get their own cake.

Let’s hear it men, I want to know if this is a common thing. Did you get to eat an entire piece of your Groom’s cake at your wedding?
