I joke with my Jazzercise students as we are working our inner and outer thighs that we are getting ready for our “Winter Swimsuits.”
Although I am joking, the holidays can be an attack on the body. I love celebration as much as anyone but I do declare the after effects can make the beginning of 2012 more of a hassle than it needs to be.
My plan? Treat the holidays like swimsuit season and get uber fit now. How? Three ways really:
1) Ramping up my exercise. For me that’s teaching Pure Muscle, a 4 class, 45-minute strength training class meant to fatigue muscles and tone the body.
2) Eating Right. Last week I started my third cycle of 21 Days with Snap Kitchen. I was initially amped to try Snap Kitchen’s 21-Day Fitness plan and see what it would bring. Well at the end of the 21-days, I didn’t want to stop. Too convenient. Now with two-cycles down and 4 days into the next, I not only feel better, I look better. Name a potential benefit and I am enjoying it. Better skin, weight loss, metabolism, energy, etc. etc. Weight loss wasn’t a main factor for me when I started with Snap, but as I fit in clothes I had given up on and buy smaller sizes of new things, I have to say I don’t mind one bit! The combo of eating right and exercising will never go out of style!
3) Don’t sweat it. The worst thing I could do this season is clamp down and take out the little daily joys. Where is the fun in that? For example I spent last night at a slumber party with my high school girls. Twizzlers were looking at me. A open bag of Twizzlers were calling my name. Rather than deny myself the little enjoyment, I had some. Divine! I also pick up a bag of cookies and brownies from Snap Kitchen every time I pick up my food. You never can be too prepared for a sugar emergency…when I know it is coming from Snap aka made with ‘clean food’ I don’t hesitate to add that into the day.
By the end of the month..when holiday eating is in full swing, I will be ready for the winter swimsuit no problem.
