Austin never fails to remind us of its greatness! With the Austin Film Festival back for another year–last week got the stamp of approval…Top on the list and a surprise to all was the Carillion restaurant. Hands down THE best pork belly there-add to that their goat cheesecake. I highly recommend trying the goodness from this restaurant.
With the 2009 Food & Film, the festival officially began!

What exactly is Conch?

Last night, I had the honor of judging a Conch cookoff at Kahuna’s Tiki Bar and Grill.
I should confess that my Conch knowledge is limited. I don’t like seafood as a category, but dabble in shrimp, calamari, crab, and lobster. And believe me if my parents read that, they would be impressed. I have come a long way baby!

A buddy of mine from my lawyer days works at Jackson Walker and invited me to their party. The food was awesome: 34th Street Cafe Catering (part of 34th Street Cafe). Spinach Artichoke dip, Asian salad served in little Chinese takeout boxes with chopsticks, and more!
Highlight: Meeting two River Listeners who were also enjoying the party.
